From 15 September 2026, citizens of 50+ countries, including Russia, can stay in Thailand visa-free for 30 days instead of 60.

What changed

From 15 September 2026, visa-free entry for citizens of 50+ countries, including Russia, has been cut from 60 to 30 days. You can extend your stay by another 30 days at an immigration office — the government fee is 1,900 THB.

Border runs are no longer a fix: since November 2025, two back-to-back border runs without a good reason may lead to refused entry.

Who is affected

Everyone entering Thailand without a visa: tourists, winter visitors and people living here between trips. If you entered before 15 September 2026, the previous terms apply — check the date in your entry stamp.

What to do

If you plan to stay longer than 30 days, extend your stay or choose a visa for six months, a year or longer. Overstaying is expensive: 500 THB per day, up to 20,000 THB.
